Domaine Bless

Domaine Bless is the shared endeavour of Hiroyasu and Maki Honma, a husband-and-wife team who left careers in healthcare to pursue winemaking. After visiting wineries together and falling in love with the craft, they made the decision to leave and start a new life in Niki, Hokkaido.

Their first winery name was Le Rêve, French for "The Dream." They began by making wine under contract at a custom-crush facility in Iwamizawa, Hokkaido and made their wine there for from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, they began independent production at their own facility in Niki. As the winery established itself and their dream became reality, they renamed it Domaine Bless — an acknowledgment that they had been blessed with the life they had set out to build.

Niki sits within the broader Yoichi wine district, where volcanic soils with good drainage and cool-climate conditions suit aromatic European grape varieties. The Honmas work with wild yeast, avoid additives, and focus on Alsace-inspired field blends. Their labels carry traditional Japanese-inspired artwork — a visual expression of a winery where European winemaking traditions and Japanese sensibility meet. The winery also offers accommodation to guests, inviting visitors to experience the vineyard landscape directly.
